Famous owner: Sir David Brown (10 May 1904 – 3 September 1993) was an English entrepreneur, managing director of his family firm David Brown Ltd. and one time owner of shipbuilders Vosper Thorneycroft and automobile manufacturer Aston Martin
Note: The car was maroon with beige interior, fitted with LB6/49/27R engine and registered UMC 272. 1950.02.01 Featured in “The Motor” by Laurence Pomeroy tak-ing UMC 272 on a 1,000-mile continental trip In March 1950, it went back to Service Department and Jack Sopp replaced the steering column gear change by a floor change. Then the car was resprayed dark green and sold to Lance Macklin.

Note: In March 1950 Lance Macklin drove it to Bologna to fitted three Weber 35 DCO carburetors (probably the first British sports car to be fitted with Webers) to enter several races in Italy with works support. In October 1950 it was repaired at the factory and new engine LB6/49/29 fitted instead of original LB6/49/27R.

Built in the fifteenth century by the monks of the nearby Dorchester Abbey, and sensitively restored in the 90s, the great tithe barn in Drayton St Leonard now houses our Museum and Archives and is the shared Head Office of the Aston Martin Heritage Trust and the Aston Martin Owners Club.
