Orazio Satta Puliga (Turin, 6 October 1910 – Milan, 22 March 1974) was an Italian automotive engineer and one of the leading technical figures in Alfa Romeo’s post-war development. He joined the company in 1938 and, after the war, was appointed head of design and experimental engineering in 1946. He became central technical director in 1951 and deputy general manager in 1969. Under his technical leadership, Alfa Romeo developed some of its most important post-war production models, including the 1900, Giulietta, Giulia, 1750 and Alfetta, together with their numerous derivatives. Satta Puliga played a central role in defining the engineering philosophy that characterised Alfa Romeo during the company’s transition from limited production to large-scale manufacture.
