#ErnestoMaserati

Ernesto Maserati was an Italian automotive engineer and racing driver, involved with Maserati since the company's founding in Bologna on 14 December 1914, alongside his brothers Alfieri Maserati (the leader), Ettore Maserati, and Bindo Maserati. During World War I, Ernesto managed the workshop while his older brothers were serving in the military. His racing career began in 1924, and he achieved notable success by winning the Italian Drivers' Championship in 1927 with the Maserati Tipo 26, and again in 1930 driving the Tipo 8C-2500. Following the death of his brother Alfieri in 1932, Ernesto took over as technical director, chief engineer, and also served as Maserati’s lead works driver. Under his guidance, the company expanded its reputation in both engineering and international motorsport. In 1937, the Maserati company was sold to industrialist Adolfo Orsi. In 1940, Ernesto, along with Ettore and Bindo, relocated with the firm to Modena. After their contractual obligations with Orsi ended in 1947, the three brothers returned to Bologna and founded the O.S.C.A. (Officine Specializzate Costruzione Automobili) Maserati company, focused on producing small-displacement sports and racing cars.
