#FrancoScaglione
Franco Scaglione (Florence, 26 September 1916 – Suvereto, 19 June 1993) was one of the most original Italian automobile designers of the post-war period. After studying aeronautical engineering, he began working in Turin and joined Carrozzeria Bertone in the early 1950s, where his strong interest in aerodynamics and sculptural form produced some of the company’s most distinctive designs. Among his best-known creations were the Alfa Romeo BAT 5, BAT 7 and BAT 9 experimental coupés, the Alfa Romeo Giulietta Sprint Speciale, the Arnolt-Bristol, the Abarth 1500 Biposto and the NSU Sport Prinz. After leaving Bertone, he worked independently and designed cars including the Lamborghini 350 GTV and the Alfa Romeo 33 Stradale, widely regarded as one of the most elegant sports cars ever created. Scaglione’s work combined aerodynamic research, technical ingenuity and highly expressive body surfaces, giving him a unique position in the history of Italian automotive design.
We'll publish a biography on him on the occasion of his anniversary or when it will be reached a sufficient number of cars.
