Sergio Pininfarina, born with the surname of Farina (Turin, 8 September 1926 - Turin, 3 July 2012), was an Italian entrepreneur, coachbuilder, designer and senator for life. Cousin of the Formula 1 champion Nino Farina, Sergio Farina becomes the president of the bodywork company of the same name on the death of his father Battista "Pinin" Farina who was its founder. The diminutive "Pinin" was added to the original surname "Farina" in 1961, by decree of the President of the Republic Giovanni Gronchi.
