#UmbertoAgnelli

Umberto Agnelli (Lausanne, November 1, 1934 – Venaria Reale, May 27, 2004) was an Italian entrepreneur, sports executive, and politician. He was the younger brother of Gianni Agnelli, thirteen years his senior and the designated head of the family, who played a fatherly role in his life. His career was closely tied to Fiat, where he held key positions, becoming CEO in 1970 and later chairman in 2003, shortly before his passing. Under his leadership, Fiat continued its industrial and technological development, maintaining a pivotal role in the Italian and international automotive industry. Alongside his business career, Umberto Agnelli was deeply involved in the world of sports. From 1955 to 1962, he served as president of Juventus, contributing to a successful era for the club. He also held the position of president of the Italian Football Federation (FIGC) from 1959 to 1961 and later played a significant role in the International Olympic Committee (IOC), reinforcing his commitment to promoting sports both nationally and internationally. His passion for motorsports was also reflected in Fiat’s involvement in competitive racing, particularly through Ferrari and Lancia, which played major roles in Formula 1 and World Rally Championship competitions.
