#PontedecimoGiovi

The Pontedecimo-Giovi was a renowned hill climb race held in Liguria, Italy, from 1922 to 1967, covering a total of 28 editions. Organized by the local Automobile Club, the competition took place on a 9.65 km course, starting from Pontedecimo, a northern district of Genoa, and finishing at the Passo dei Giovi, in the municipality of Mignanego. The route, characterized by challenging corners and significant elevation changes, tested both the drivers' skills and the performance of their cars. Over the years, the Pontedecimo-Giovi attracted many internationally renowned drivers. Among its most notable winners was Nino Farina, who in 1938 claimed victory at the wheel of an Alfa Romeo 8C 2900B, completing the course in 6 minutes and 32.4 seconds, with an average speed of 90.610 km/h. Another key figure in the race’s history was Odoardo Govoni, who holds the record for the most wins, securing three victories. After the final edition in 1967, the legacy of the Pontedecimo-Giovi has been kept alive through historical re-enactments. For over twenty years, the Veteran Car Club Ligure has organized a regularity rally for historic cars, retracing the original course to celebrate the region’s motorsport heritage and cultural legacy.
