#CarloPesenti

Carlo Pesenti (Alzano Lombardo, 1907 - Montréal, 20 September 1984) was an Italian entrepreneur, publisher and engineer, from 1946 until his death director of the Italcementi group and of all the companies and banks connected to it; major shareholder of the newspapers La Notte e Giornale di Bergamo. He also became the owner of Lancia in 1956. Under his leadership, Lancia navigated difficult financial years yet managed to launch innovative models such as the Flaminia, Flavia and, most importantly, the Fulvia. Although resources were limited, Pesenti supported Antonio Fessia’s forward-looking engineering choices, including front-wheel drive and advanced safety solutions. The Fulvia, introduced in 1963, became the symbol of this era: elegant, technically sophisticated, and ultimately Lancia’s last great project before the sale to Fiat in 1969. Pesenti’s stewardship thus marked both the twilight of Lancia’s independence and the creation of one of its most enduring classics.
