Giovanni Battista Farina (1893–1966), known as “Pinin” and officially Giovanni Battista Pininfarina from 1961, was an Italian coachbuilder, designer and entrepreneur. After working in the family firm Stabilimenti Farina, he founded Società Anonima Carrozzeria Pinin Farina in Turin in 1930. Under his direction, the company became one of Italy’s leading coachbuilders, working with manufacturers including Alfa Romeo, Lancia, Ferrari and Peugeot and playing a major role in the development of post-war Italian automotive design.
