Carrozzeria Scaglietti is an Italian coachbuilder based in Maranello, officially active since 1951. Its name has been inextricably linked to Ferrari from the very origins of the brand. The company was founded by Sergio Scaglietti, a skilled panel beater and craftsman who was already working with the nascent “Prancing Horse” factory after earlier collaborations with the Alfa Romeo racing team. Enzo Ferrari, recognizing Scaglietti’s talent and intuitive understanding of racing needs, entrusted him with the construction of lightweight, aerodynamically advanced bodies for his competition cars. Throughout the 1950s and 1960s, Carrozzeria Scaglietti was responsible for crafting some of the most iconic Ferrari bodies—such as the 250 Testa Rossa, 250 GTO, and 275 GTB—often in close synergy with designers like Pinin Farina. In 1977, the company was officially acquired by Ferrari and gradually integrated into its industrial structure. While it no longer produces custom bodies, the Scaglietti name lives on within Ferrari as the division specialized in the construction of aluminum chassis and body structures.
