Prof. Ferraguti together with General Agostini, following the news that an American driver had reached a speed of 95 km/h with his gas generator car and the previous maximum speed of 120 km/h of their Alfa Romeo, decided to test the same again. Together with the mechanic Bignami, Ferraguti completed around fifty laps of the 4 km circuit with times ranging between 2'14'' and 2'7''. Maximum speed reached of 134 km per hour and an average of 113 km/h.

Professor Ferraguti left Rome under the pseudonym 'Professor X', with his gasifier-powered car, for a raid through the European capitals. Starting from Rome, he arrived in Tarvisio averaging 70 km/h. He passed through Vienna at an average speed of 60 km/h, then reached Budapest, Warsaw, and Krakow, continuing on to Berlin, Utrecht, Brussels, London, and Paris before returning to Rome. It was a journey that lasted a total of 8 days, with 116 hours of driving. Ferraguti was accompanied on this trip by Piero Sguanci, the president of RACI Florence, and the mechanics Albini and Vacchini, who drove a spare car. Ten days after his return, he was commended by Mussolini in recognition of his journey.

The Ferraguti - Vacchini team has been corrected on the entry form by replacing Vacchini - Albini which was previously foreseen and which sometimes appears in the press of the period relating to car No. 54. Some sources indicate Facetti as codriver, other that Facetti raced with Ferraguti in the car N. 70. Among the documents accompanying the registration is the additional form for "Solid Substitutes" and the indication of the modifications: 1750 cmc engine with compressor, modification to the carburettor, extractor fan for direct gas starting, 400 km autonomy, coal fuel of wood. In the newspaper La Stampa of 6 April 1936, Prof. Ferraguti's withdrawal from the race due to an accident in San Casciano is mentioned.
