Chevrolet (sometimes abbreviated to Chevy) is a US automobile company, a division of the General Motors group. The company was founded in Michigan in 1911 by Louis Chevrolet, a Swiss driver, and William C. Durant, founder of General Motors. The "Chevy" had a great influence in the American auto market, especially in the 1950s and 1960s. In 1963, one in ten cars sold in the United States was a Chevrolet.
