#RallyeSanremo
Rallye Sanremo is one of Italy’s oldest and most prestigious rally competitions. First held in 1928 in and around Sanremo, Liguria, it later became one of the classic events of the European and international rally calendar. With the creation of the FIA World Rally Championship in 1973, Sanremo became Italy’s round of the WRC and remained on the championship calendar until 2003, with the exception of 1995. Traditionally known for its demanding asphalt roads in the Ligurian hinterland, and in some periods also for mixed-surface routes, the event was replaced in the WRC by Rally Italia Sardegna from 2004. In more recent years, Rallye Sanremo has continued as a major event in the Italian Rally Championship and in other European rally series.
