He was son of Napoleon Panhard, younger brother of René, founder of the Panhard, and the father of Jean Panhard. After studying law, Paul Panhard joined Panhard & Levassor, the automotive company of his uncle René in 1904. Paul succeeded Hippolyte Panhard, son of René, in 1915. He remained at the head of the company until 1965.
