#AlejandroDeTomaso

Alejandro de Tomaso (Buenos Aires, 10 July 1928 – Modena, 21 May 2003) was an Argentine-born racing driver, engineer and entrepreneur who became one of the most unconventional figures in post-war Italian motoring. After moving to Italy in the 1950s, he first pursued a career in motor racing, competing in single-seaters and sports cars, before founding De Tomaso Automobili in Modena in 1959. Under his leadership, the company evolved from a small racing concern into a maker of distinctive high-performance road and competition cars, including models such as the Vallelunga, Mangusta and Pantera. Over the years, De Tomaso also played a far wider industrial role, taking control at different times of marques such as Ghia, Maserati, Benelli, Moto Guzzi and Innocenti. Brilliant, charismatic and often controversial, he remained a central force in the company and in the wider Italian motor industry for more than four decades.

We'll publish a biography on him on the occasion of his anniversary or when it will be reached a sufficient number of cars.
