THE ICE St. Moritz 2025: Elegance, Speed, and Heritage on the Frozen Lake
March 3, 2025
The International Concours of Elegance (The I.C.E.) in St. Moritz has once again showcased the pinnacle of automotive elegance and performance against the breathtaking backdrop of the Swiss Alps. Held on February 21 and 22, 2025, this year's event attracted over 15,000 visitors, solidifying its status as a premier winter gathering for classic car enthusiasts. The frozen Lake St. Moritz transformed into a glistening stage where 52 iconic automobiles, spanning various eras and styles, were displayed. These vehicles competed across five distinct categories, evaluated by a jury of international experts:
- Barchettas on the Lake: Celebrating lightweight, open-top sports cars designed for speed. Winner: Ferrari 500 TRC Scaglietti (1957)
- Open Wheels: Highlighting legendary single-seaters from motorsport history. Winner: Bugatti Type 59 (1934)
- Concept Cars & One-Offs: Featuring unique prototypes and visionary designs. Winner: Alfa Romeo 6C 1750 GS Aprile (1931)
- Icons on Wheels: Showcasing models that have become automotive legends. Winner: Ferrari 275 GTB/4 (1966)
- Racing Legends: Honoring vehicles with illustrious racing pedigrees. Winner: Porsche 908/03 (1971)
The prestigious "Best of Show" accolade was awarded to the 1934 Bugatti Type 59, presented by renowned designer Marc Newson. This masterpiece exemplifies the growing appreciation for well-preserved, unrestored vehicles in the concours community.
Among the participants, three stunning Automotive Masterpieces were not to be missed: the awarded 1931 Alfa Romeo 6C 1750 with a one-off Aprile body; a postwar sports, 1956 Porsche Spyder Type 550-1500 RS; and a prototype, the 1969 Autobianchi Runabout, the renowned show car designed by Bertone.
Beyond the concours, The I.C.E. expanded its horizons by integrating cultural, culinary, and artistic experiences throughout St. Moritz. Notable luxury brands enhanced the event's allure: Pagani Automobili unveiled the Utopia Roadster and Huayra Epitome, and hosted the exclusive "Salotto Pagani," featuring the Huayra R and Zonda S. Maserati introduced the new GranCabrio with a 490-horsepower engine, combining performance with open-air driving luxury. Richard Mille continued its role as the title sponsor, showcasing its exquisite timepieces. Loro Piana brought its signature elegance to the icy track for the second consecutive year, and RM Sotheby's solidified its presence. Ferrari Classiche offered a unique experience, allowing select clients to drive vintage Ferraris on the frozen lake, blending heritage with the thrill of the icy expanse. The I.C.E. St. Moritz 2025 not only celebrated automotive excellence but also fostered a vibrant community where art, luxury, and motoring passion converged, setting a new standard for elegance on ice.
