The Coppa Bruno Carotti, also known as the Rieti–Terminillo, is an Italian hillclimb competition held on the SS 4 bis road connecting Rieti with Monte Terminillo, in the Lazio region. Motor racing on this mountain road dates back to 1939, when the Automobile Club Rieti organised a speed competition over a 13.95 km course. Further events followed in 1949 and 1950, before the competition was revived in its modern form in October 1966 under the name Coppa Bruno Carotti. The event commemorates Bruno Carotti, a racing driver from Rieti who died in a road accident in September 1950, shortly before a scheduled competition on the Terminillo road. The traditional course extended for 15 km, starting at Lisciano and finishing at Campoforogna, with an elevation difference of approximately 1,125 metres. Its steep gradients, fast sections and demanding bends made it an established fixture of Italian hillclimb racing. Over the decades, the Coppa Bruno Carotti has formed part of national and international hillclimb championships, including the FIA European Hill Climb Championship, attracting sports prototypes, touring cars, Grand Touring cars and single-seaters. The course has undergone several modifications, including shortened configurations adopted from 2015 onwards, while the event has continued to be organised under the auspices of the Automobile Club Rieti.
