#CoppaLuigiFagioli
The Coppa Luigi Fagioli is one of Italy’s oldest and most prestigious hill climb races, named in honor of Luigi Fagioli, the celebrated Italian Grand Prix driver of the 1930s and 1940s. First held in 1962 near Gubbio, in the Umbria region, the event takes place on a mountain road linking the city to Madonna della Cima, covering approximately 4.1 kilometers with a demanding mix of fast and technical sections. Part of the Italian Hill Climb Championship (CIVM) for many years, the race has drawn both top national drivers and international participants. Known for its tight corners, elevation changes, and scenic setting, it has become a key event on the national motorsport calendar. The Coppa Fagioli has featured a wide range of machinery over the decades—from touring and GT cars to single-seaters and prototypes. Despite its relatively short length compared to other hill climbs, the course is technically challenging and rewards precision and power. The event has been held continuously since its founding, with only a few interruptions, and is today considered a classic of Italian hill climbing. It remains a tribute to the legacy of Luigi Fagioli and a showcase for contemporary hill climb competition.
