#CoppaCantoniTrofeoLumezzane
The Brescia Automobile Club established the Lumezzane Hill Climb for cars in 1954. The first edition took place on September 19th, and it was open to Touring and Sports categories. From its inception until 1962, the race was valid for the Renzo Cantoni Trophy and served as the sole round of the Brescia Motor Championship. The course stretched 8.5 kilometers, running from the Sarezzo crossroads to Lumezzane Sant’Apollonio, in Val Gobba, with an altitude gain of approximately 300 meters. Over the years, and up to 1967, the event underwent several changes in its structure and admitted vehicle classes, reflecting the evolution of Italian motorsport regulations. These modifications included the inclusion of Gran Turismo cars, prototypes, and single-seaters, transforming the race into a more competitive and diverse event. The Lumezzane Hill Climb became a key fixture in the regional racing calendar, drawing local talents and manufacturers alike to test their performance on a technically demanding mountain route. Though it eventually faded from the national spotlight, the memory of the Lumezzane Hill Climb remains an important chapter in the postwar racing history of Lombardy.
We'll tell the story of this event on the occasion of its anniversary or when it will reach a sufficient number of cars.
