Great success at Circuito di Piacenza
May 10, 2015
On 11 May 1947 the Automobile Club of Piacenza organized the Circuito Automobilistico di Piacenza as the first race of the Championship of 1947: 3.3 kilometers stretching from Facsal (the public walking in Piacenza) in Stradone Farnese. Renzo Castagneto was designated to lead the race. All the most important car producers flocked in Piacenza: the Maserati, the newborn Ferrari, the Alfa Romeo, the Fiat and many others.
The first race (formula 750) saw 23 cars start, all Fiat Topolino developed and increased, with the exception of the Urania of Maraschi. In this category participated as debutant coach two young drivers: Elio Zagato and Nuccio Bertone.
In the formula 1100 set off 19 competitors, all on Fiat 1100 developed into Barchette, like the one of the winner Righetti produced by Stanguellini on a project by Massimino. In the maximum category, among the 19 competitors, appeared for the first time the Ferrari 125 S, in his debut with Cortese. Then there were the Maserati A6 of Barbieri and Angiolini, the BMW 2000 of Rovelli, Cornaggia with Alfa Romeo and Balestrero with Fiat 2800. One car that ran the historical race has already been counted among the AUTOMOTIVE MASTERPIECES:

One car that participated the 60th Anniversary in 2007 has already joined the lab of AUTOMOTIVE MASTERPIECES:

On May 9th and 10th, 2015, at the time of the World Fair 2015 in Milan, the Club Piacentino Automotoveicoli d’Epoca organized a special edition of Circuito di Piacenza for the protagonists of the first edition and a selection of about forty sports cars built before 1959.The layout was the same as that in 1947 – a rectangle of 3,3 kilometers with four generous curves, from Fàcsal, a boulevard decorated with old houses turned towards the south, and Stradone Farnese connected by two short sections of via Venturini and viale Beverora. At the time this layout was frightening and put the pilots and their engines to the test. Two cars that participated the 2015 revival have already showed on AUTOMOTIVE MASTERPIECES:
♦️ 1938 Fiat 500 Sport Vendrame sn: 040806
♦️ 1948 AMP Special sn: 51509750
The 2015 revival was a success with several important cars: 1949 Taraschi Giaur Sport 750 sn: 041951 Ferrari 212/225 export Berlinetta Le Mans sn: 0112E1953 Ferrari 340 MM Spyder Touring RHD sn: 0294AM1955 Ferrari 750 Monza Scaglietti Spyder sn: 0534MDamong other. Look the gallery.
