#AutodromoDiMonza
The Autodromo Nazionale Monza is a permanent motor racing circuit located within Monza Park, near Milan, Italy. Built in 1922 on the initiative of the Automobile Club Milano, it was the third purpose-built permanent racing circuit in the world, following Brooklands (1907) and Indianapolis (1909). Originally comprising a road course and a high-speed oval, it hosted its first Italian Grand Prix in September 1922 and became one of the principal venues of international motor racing. Since the establishment of the Formula One World Championship in 1950, Monza has hosted the Italian Grand Prix in every season except 1980. In 1955, the circuit underwent major reconstruction, including a new high-speed oval with steeply banked concrete curves, combined with the road course to form a 10 km layout. The banked section was last used for the Formula One Italian Grand Prix in 1961, although it continued to serve other competitions and record attempts. Subsequent modifications, particularly the introduction of chicanes during the 1970s, progressively improved safety while retaining the circuit's high-speed character. The present Grand Prix layout measures 5.793 km and includes well-known sections such as the Curva Grande, Variante della Roggia, two Lesmo corners, Variante Ascari and the former Parabolica, officially renamed Curva Alboreto in 2021. Beyond Formula One, Monza has hosted major international sports car, endurance, touring car and motorcycle competitions, including the 1000 Kilometres of Monza and rounds of the World Sportscar Championship. Its long straights and high average speeds have earned it the widely recognised nickname “Temple of Speed”.
We'll tell the story of this circuit on the occasion of its anniversary or when it will reach a sufficient number of cars.
