Note: "Early May 1961, I finish my military service in Marseille. Finally... And then I return to Ajaccio. For a few months, my TR3 has been for sale in Nice. I really would like to own an Alfa Romeo Zagato 1300... I leave for Italy, buy my Zagato and, like all the other racers, get to meet the “Sorcerer”, Virgile Conrero. He prepares an engine for me with 100 HP/liter, bringing the total to 130 HP. Wonderful engine, but with a fragile cylinder head gasket (1st cylinder). I arrive in Ajaccio; all my buddies are going to participate in a rallye in Sardinia at the end of May 1961. I can’t wait to try my Zagato, taking with me co-pilot 'Little Simon', passionate about motorcycles and cars. We’ll finish 12th at scratch, but testing the car is the only interesting thing to me..." — Pierre Orsini, Mes 15 ans de rallyes: 1957–1970, 1981–1982, autobiographical book.

Note: "Gendebien, having no car to preview the circuit in Corsica, asks me for the Zagato, which I refuse. I then offer him my dad’s Citroën 2CV. Everybody makes fun of him, and he gets upset. The next day, he tells me: “This race is too dangerous. I am going to have it cancelled.” With the help of his political friends, this part of the race will not be cancelled but classified as a “promenade”. I will then never talk to him again... During the Le Mans part, I become friends with Jean Rolland. He has car number 118 and I have 119; both our cars are prepared by Conrero." — Pierre Orsini, Mes 15 ans de rallyes: 1957–1970, 1981–1982, autobiographical book. Engine failure at Le Mans.

Note: "The second hour will be fatal to all Zagatos. Downhill, Rolland goes off and narrowly misses a pine tree, Oreiller breaks his engine, and I leave the circuit at 160 km/h, landing in a field after jumping over a 5–6-metre wall. The Zagato’s front is damaged. The coachbuilders Jegou & Feratto will painstakingly repair the aluminium front." — Pierre Orsini, Mes 15 ans de rallyes: 1957–1970, 1981–1982, autobiographical book.
