#WillyMairesse
Willy Mairesse (1 October 1928 – 2 September 1969) was a Belgian racing driver, one of Ferrari’s most forceful and combative works drivers in the early 1960s. Active in Formula One and especially in sports-car racing, he achieved his only F1 podium with Ferrari at the 1960 Italian Grand Prix, but his reputation was built mainly in endurance racing. With Ferrari he finished second overall at Le Mans in 1961 with Mike Parkes, won the 1962 Targa Florio with Olivier Gendebien, and the 1963 Nürburgring 1000 km with John Surtees. His career was effectively ended by a serious accident at the 1968 24 Hours of Le Mans, after which he never returned to racing.
We'll publish a biography on him on the occasion of his anniversary or when it will be reached a sufficient number of cars.
