#WECCBorehamMeeting
The WECC Boreham Meeting refers to post-war motor races organized by the West Essex Car Club (WECC) at Boreham Airfield, a former RAF base in Essex repurposed as a racing circuit. In the late 1940s and early 1950s, Boreham hosted numerous club-level and national events, serving as an important venue for Britain’s resurging motorsport culture. The circuit featured fast straights and flat aerodrome curves, ideal for sports cars, specials and modified pre-war machines. The WECC meetings welcomed both amateur and semi-professional drivers, including notable entrants such as R.R.C. Walker and Guy Gale, often driving rare machinery like Delahaye 135 S or ERA cars. Though less known than Goodwood or Silverstone, Boreham played a key role in rebuilding Britain’s racing calendar during the immediate post-war years.
