#TorreyPinesRoadRace

The Torrey Pines Road Races were held from 1951 to 1956 on a temporary road circuit laid out near the Torrey Pines Golf Course in La Jolla, California. Sanctioned by the SCCA and the California Sports Car Club, the 2.7-mile course quickly became a cornerstone of the West Coast sports car calendar. The layout, with its fast straights and sweeping turns overlooking the Pacific, attracted top drivers such as Phil Hill, Carroll Shelby, Jack McAfee, Ken Miles, and Ruth Levy, along with Ferraris, Porsches, Jaguars, and American specials. Though discontinued after 1956 due to safety concerns and urban development, Torrey Pines remains one of the iconic venues of California’s early postwar road racing boom.
