Terence Stamp was a British actor and cultural icon of 1960s cinema, known for his magnetic screen presence and work across British, European and Hollywood films. Oscar-nominated for his breakthrough role in Billy Budd and winner of the Best Actor award at Cannes for The Collector, he later became known to wider audiences through films such as Superman, The Limey and The Adventures of Priscilla, Queen of the Desert. His career combined arthouse prestige, cult status and mainstream recognition.
