#ScuderiaSanGiorgioAutocorse
Scuderia San Giorgio Autocorse was founded in Ferrara in 1947 and soon became a hub of postwar Italian motor racing. Active between 1948 and 1950 at the Mille Miglia, with drivers such as Bruno Mares and Marcello Cicognani, it embodied the passion of a provincial but ambitious motorsport environment. During the 1950s its role was consolidated by figures like Onofrio and Carla Colabella, Armando François and the Morelli brothers, Maserati dealers in Borgo San Luca. Its members raced a wide range of cars, from small-displacement sports models to high-performance machines, carrying the team’s name onto national roads. Though some later accounts suggest links to personalities such as Ferruccio Lamborghini, its true significance lies in having been a rallying point for Ferrara’s enthusiasts in the decade when Italian motorsport was regaining momentum.
