The RACE Rally of Spain, also known as Rally of Spain, RACE Rally, RACE Costa Blanca Rally, National RACE Rally or Rally Sol, was a major rally competition held annually since 1953 in different locations across Spain, mainly in the Community of Madrid. Organized by the Real Automóvil Club de España (RACE)—from which it takes its name—the event counted towards both the Spanish Rally Championship and the European Rally Championship. During the 1960s and 1970s it attracted increasing international participation, becoming one of the reference events in Southern Europe. It later played a key role in the development of Spain’s rally culture and helped pave the way for the country’s inclusion in the World Rally Championship calendar with the Rally Catalunya.
