#PomonaRoadRaces
The Pomona Road Races were a series of sports car events held in Pomona, California, during the early to mid-1950s. Organized by the California Sports Car Club (Cal Club), an SCCA affiliate, the races took place on a temporary circuit laid out within the Los Angeles County Fairgrounds, using access roads and parking areas. As part of the thriving Southern California racing scene, Pomona attracted top West Coast drivers such as Phil Hill, Ken Miles, John von Neumann, Jack McAfee, and Ernie McAfee. European marques like Ferrari, Jaguar, Porsche, Allard, and OSCA were strongly represented, making the venue an important showcase for new machinery. The flat but technical layout served as a proving ground for both cars and drivers before purpose-built tracks such as Riverside and Laguna Seca emerged. Though the races eventually ended due to safety concerns and urban development, Pomona remains an important and nostalgic chapter in postwar American sports car history, remembered especially for helping to establish Ferrari’s reputation in the United States.
We'll tell the story of this event on the occasion of its anniversary or when it will reach a sufficient number of cars.
