#NikiLauda

Andreas Nikolaus Lauda, known as Niki (Vienna, February 22, 1949 - Zurich, May 20, 2019), was an Austrian racing driver, entrepreneur and sports manager. Three times Formula 1 world champion (in 1975 and 1977 with Ferrari and in 1984 with McLaren), as an entrepreneur he founded and directed three airlines, Lauda Air, Fly Niki and Laudamotion; as a sports manager, after having been a consultant for Ferrari and having managed Jaguar for two seasons, from 2012 until his death he held the position of non-executive chairman of Mercedes. Considered one of the best drivers in history, he was nicknamed "The Computer" due to his coolness behind the wheel. He competed in 171 Grands Prix, winning 25 of them, scoring 24 pole positions and as many fastest laps. He had a high-level sports career driving for March, BRM, Ferrari, Brabham and, after an initial retirement and subsequent return to racing, McLaren. In 1976, on the Nürburgring Nordschleife circuit, he had a serious accident that left his face partially disfigured; hence the habit of wearing a red cap, an accessory which soon became a symbol in his public image.

We'll publish a biography on him on the occasion of his anniversary or when it will be reached a sufficient number of cars.
