#MarioFissore

Mario Fissore was an Italian automotive designer and technical director, the eldest son of Bernardo Fissore, founder of Carrozzeria Fissore in Savigliano, Piedmont. From the post-World War II period through the 1970s, Mario played a central role in guiding the company's creative and technical direction. As chief designer and technical coordinator, he oversaw the development of numerous bespoke and limited-series vehicles, particularly those based on Fiat platforms. Notably, he supervised the design and production of coupés and spiders utilizing Fiat-OSCA mechanicals, such as the Fiat 1500 S and 1600 S models. His responsibilities included ensuring the feasibility of handcrafted adaptations derived from these Fiat chassis, maintaining both aesthetic coherence and mechanical integrity. Mario's leadership extended to collaborations with various international manufacturers, including De Tomaso, Monteverdi, and DKW. His work contributed significantly to Carrozzeria Fissore's reputation for craftsmanship and innovation in the mid-20th-century automotive industry.
