#MarcoPiccinini

Marco Piccinini (born in Rome, 26 March 1950) is an Italian motorsport executive, manager and diplomat. He began his career in the automotive and racing world during the early 1970s, collaborating with private Ferrari teams before joining Ferrari officially in 1977. From 1978 to 1988, served as Sporting Director of Scuderia Ferrari, working alongside Enzo Ferrari, Mauro Forghieri, and later Harvey Postlethwaite contributing to the strategic and organizational framework that led Ferrari to multiple World Championship titles. While his responsibilities were primarily linked to Formula One and racing management, Piccinini was also part of Ferrari’s broader executive environment, contributing to the coordination between sporting, corporate and image-related activities. During the early 1980s, as Ferrari sought to reaffirm its technological and stylistic leadership, Piccinini’s role in the company’s strategic and public relations structure intersected with the context in which the Ferrari Testarossa was conceived and presented. Though not directly involved in its design or engineering, he helped shape the institutional and communicative framework that supported the model’s debut — a car that symbolized Ferrari’s renewed identity and prestige during that period. After leaving Ferrari, Piccinini continued to play a significant role in international motorsport governance, representing Italy within the FIA and contributing to the definition of modern Formula One’s organizational structure.
