The Lone Star National Sports Car Races were SCCA events held at Bergstrom Air Force Base near Austin, Texas, during the early 1950s. The 1953 meeting, held on 12 April, formed the second round of the SCCA National Sports Car Championship and included races for both production and modified sports cars on the airfield circuit. Among the leading European marques represented were Ferrari, O.S.C.A., Porsche, Siata and Jowett. Boris “Bob” Said won the 100-mile modified race in George Moffett’s O.S.C.A. MT4, chassis no. 1127, only hours after the heavily damaged car had been rebuilt following Moffett’s practice accident. The event returned to Bergstrom in 1954 as part of the SCCA National Championship.
