British sports-car racing driver and private entrant active mainly during the late 1950s. A member of Speedwell Stablealongside Monty Mostyn, Bill Smith and John Sprinzel, Bekaert competed extensively in British club and national racing with Jaguar and H.W.M.-Jaguar machinery. During 1958 he achieved several outright victories at circuits including Brands Hatch, Silverstone, Snetterton and Goodwood, becoming one of the more successful private sports-car drivers on the British scene that season.
