The Jaguar XK 140 SE (Special Equipment) in the UK and XK 140 MC (Modified Competition) in North America were upgraded versions of the standard XK 140. The main difference was the engine, as both models featured the high-performance C-Type cylinder head, increasing power from approximately 190 hp to 210 hp. They also had an improved exhaust system with a dual outlet, upgraded shock absorbers for better handling, and additional fog lamps as part of the Special Equipment package. A distinguishing badge marked these versions, with “MC” in the US and “SE” in the UK. The XK 140, particularly in SE/MC specification, maintained Jaguar’s strong sporting reputation and was known for its balance of power and refinement. While it did not match the racing pedigree of the XK 120 C-Type or D-Type, privateers successfully campaigned the XK 140 in rallies and endurance events, including the Mille Miglia and Alpine Rally, where its robust performance and improved handling made it a competitive grand tourer.
We'll tell the story of this model on the occasion of its anniversary or when it will reach a sufficient number of cars.
