Italdesign Giugiaro is an Italian company founded in Turin on 13 February 1968 by Giorgetto Giugiaro and Aldo Mantovani under the original name of SIRP Società Italiana Realization Prototipi S.p.A. The company was born as a service center for the automotive world; since its foundation, Italdesign has established partnerships with the main car manufacturers. The Giugiaro Design section has been operational within the Group since 1981: a division dedicated to industrial and transport design. On May 25, 2010, Volkswagen AG acquired 90.1% of the capital of Italdesign Giugiaro.
