#HelmutMarko

Helmut Marko (born 27 April 1943, Graz, Austria) is an Austrian racing driver and motorsport manager. As a driver he competed in endurance racing and Formula 1, achieving his greatest success with Alfa Romeo’s Autodelta team. In 1971 he won the 24 Hours of Le Mans at the wheel of a Porsche 917K, and in 1972 he raced the Alfa Romeo 33 TT 3 in the World Sportscar Championship, taking 4th overall at Buenos Aires, 2nd at the Targa Florio, and 7th at Brands Hatch. His promising career was cut short by an accident at the 1972 French Grand Prix at Clermont-Ferrand. After retiring from racing, Marko became one of the most influential figures in modern motorsport as head of the Red Bull Junior Team and advisor to the Red Bull Formula 1 program.
