#GiroAutomobilisticoDeiDueMari
The Giro Automobilistico dei due Mari was a Southern Italian road competition centred on Catanzaro and conceived around the symbolic connection between the Ionian and Tyrrhenian coasts, from which its name derived. Documented at least in 1960 as the 1st Giro Automobilistico dei due Mari – Coppa Città di Catanzaro, it belonged to the same Calabrian sporting tradition that had already produced the better-known Giro Automobilistico delle Calabrie, but represented a distinct event with its own identity and organisation. Like many Italian road competitions of the period, it was intended for production-derived and Gran Turismo cars and formed part of the dense regional and interregional calendar through which gentleman drivers and private entrants remained active in the post-war years. Its Catanzaro base and “two seas” concept firmly place it within the wider motorsport culture promoted in Calabria by the local Automobile Club.
We'll tell the story of this event on the occasion of its anniversary or when it will reach a sufficient number of cars.
