#GigiRiva

Luigi Riva, known as Gigi (Leggiuno, 7 November 1944), is a sports manager and former Italian footballer, with an attacking role. He was European champion in 1968 and vice-world champion in 1970 with the Italian national team, of which he holds the record for scoring with thirty-five goals. Considered by Cesare Maldini one of the strongest Italian players of all times, he occupies the 74th position in the ranking of the best players of the twentieth century drawn up by the World Soccer magazine. Apart from the debut season, played in the ranks of Legnano, he linked his entire career to Cagliari, a club of which he became the flag and symbol and of which he still holds the absolute record for scoring; in the 1969-70 season he contributed to the victory of the first, and still the only, Scudetto in the history of the Rossoblu (graduating on the occasion as top scorer in the championship). Remained tied to the Sardinian team even after his retirement, he briefly assumed the highest position in the 1986-87 season and since 2019 he has held that of honorary president; from 1990 to 2013 he was team manager of the Italian national team. In 2011 he was inducted into the Italian football Hall of Fame among the "veterans".
