Giovanni (Gianni) Plodari was son and heir of Francesco Plodari, founder in 1920 of the Magenta-based company “Francesco Plodari & Figlio”, among the early Italian firms specialised in the production of locks and hardware. A prominent figure in the local industrial and civic environment, Francesco Plodari was also active in the sporting field, serving as president of AC Magenta and later of Novara Calcio; the municipal stadium of Magenta is named after him. In 1951, Giovanni Plodari married Costanza Vigorelli, an Italian Olympic figure skater and prominent competitor on the national scene in the post-war years.
