#FerrariDaytona

“Daytona” is the unofficial but universally adopted name associated with the Ferrari 365 GTB/4 berlinetta and, by extension, with its open counterpart, the 365 GTS/4 spider. Coined by the press in reference to Ferrari’s 1-2-3 victory at the 24 Hours of Daytona in 1967, the nickname was never part of the model’s original factory designation, yet became inseparable from one of Maranello’s most iconic V12 grand tourers. With its sharp Pininfarina design, long bonnet, set-back cabin and compact tail, the Daytona embodied both the end of Ferrari’s classical front-engined V12 line and the beginning of a more modern design language. Fast, elegant and imposing, it was produced as the closed 365 GTB/4 berlinetta and in much smaller numbers as the 365 GTS/4 spider, while later competition versions confirmed the strength of the basic design in endurance racing. The Daytona name was later revived by Ferrari for the limited-edition Daytona SP3, the second model in the Icona series, itself created as a tribute to the marque’s 1967 triumph at Daytona.
