Don Hulette was an American racing driver, composer, producer and film director. Born in Los Angeles in 1937, he competed extensively on the West Coast between 1955 and 1964, initially with Triumph sports cars and later with machinery including Arnolt-Bristol, Jaguar, Lister-Chevrolet, Porsche, Maserati, Lotus, Ferrari and Aston Martin. His recorded career included six outright victories, twelve additional class wins and eighteen podium finishes. Hulette acquired Arnolt-Bristol Bolide chassis 404/X/3008 in late 1956 and raced it at Paramount Ranch and Pomona. He later achieved notable results with Jaguar specials and a Lister-Chevrolet, competed in the 1962 12 Hours of Sebring with a Lotus Elite and drove a Porsche 718 for Vasek Polak. After his motor-racing career, Hulette worked in the film industry as a composer, producer and director. He directed, produced and scored the 1977 action film Breaker! Breaker!, starring Chuck Norris, and later directed A Great Ride and Tennessee Stallion. He also composed music for several films and for restored versions of Harold Lloyd silent comedies. Hulette died in Los Angeles in 2008.
