#CrystalPalaceCircuit

The Crystal Palace Circuit was a historic British motor racing venue located in south-east London, within Crystal Palace Park. Originally opened in 1927 as a modest one-mile (1.6 km) dirt track, it was transformed into a fully paved and extended road course in 1937, reaching approximately 2 miles (3.2 km) in length. The circuit hosted major pre-war races such as the London Grand Prix, attracting top drivers including Prince Bira and showcasing cars from ERA, Maserati, Delahaye, and more. After World War II, racing resumed in 1953 on a shortened 1.39-mile (2.24 km) layout. The circuit remained active until 1972, hosting various national and international events including Formula 2, Formula 3, and saloon car championships. Legendary drivers like Jim Clark, Jochen Rindt, Jackie Stewart, and Graham Hill all competed there. Although racing ceased in the 1970s, the site remains significant in British motorsport history and is occasionally used for classic car demonstrations and events.
