Brescia Automobile Club created the Lumezzane Uphill Race for cars in 1954.

The first edition was disputed on September 19th and it admitted cars from the Tourism and Sport categories. The race remained valid until 1962 for the Renzo Cantoni Trophy and as the only challenge of the Brescia Motor Championship. The route, from the Sarezzo crossroad to Lumezzane S. Apollonio, in Val Gobba, was 8.5 Km long, with an altitude difference of around 300 meters.

In the years, until 1967, several changing took place in the categories.
