#CarrozzeriaFissore

Carrozzeria Fissore, officially Stabilimenti Industriali Giovanni Fissore S.p.A., was an Italian coachbuilding company active from 1921 to 1984. Founded in Savigliano, in the province of Cuneo (Piedmont), the firm was established by Giovanni Fissore and initially specialized in building horse-drawn carriages and commercial vehicle bodies. From the 1930s onward, the company transitioned into coachbuilding for automobiles, producing bespoke and limited-series bodywork for major Italian manufacturers such as Fiat, Lancia, and Alfa Romeo, as well as various foreign brands. During the 1950s and 1960s, Carrozzeria Fissore gained wider recognition for its refined coupés, spiders, and station wagons, often based on Fiat mechanicals. Its designs ranged from elegant grand tourers to innovative utility vehicles. Among its most notable works were several special-bodied versions of the Fiat 1100, Fiat 1500 S/1600 S OSCA, and collaborations with emerging sports car builders like De Tomaso, TVR, and Monteverdi. The company also played a role in producing prototypes and limited-run series for industrial and military vehicles. By the late 1970s, due to increasing industrial consolidation and the decline of artisanal coachbuilding, Fissore gradually shifted toward contract manufacturing and body production for third parties. The company eventually ceased operations in 1984. Carrozzeria Fissore remains an emblematic name in the golden age of Italian coachbuilding, known for its craftsmanship, versatility, and collaborations across a broad range of vehicle types.
