#BrunoOttomano
Bruno Ottomano was an Italian racing driver from Bari, active from the early 1960s through the late 1970s, and remembered as one of southern Italy’s most prominent competitors in both circuit racing and hillclimbs. After beginning his career in national mountain events with Alfa Romeo touring cars, he rose to wider recognition in the 1970s when he became closely associated with Autodelta and the Alfa Romeo Tipo 33 prototypes. Ottomano competed in major Italian and European races with various iterations of the Alfa 33, including both V8 and later 12-cylinder versions, achieving numerous victories and podium finishes in endurance events and hillclimb courses. He also took part in selected rounds of the World Championship for Makes, sharing the track with leading drivers of the era. Ottomano’s long career made him an important link between Alfa Romeo’s factory racing programs and the vibrant Italian privateer scene. He passed away in Bari in 2018.
