#BBurago

Bburago was one of Italy’s best-known die-cast model-car manufacturers. Originating from Martoys, founded in 1974 by the Besana brothers after their earlier experience with Mebetoys, the company took the Bburago name in 1976, combining the Besana initial with Burago di Molgora, the town where it was based. Its models, produced mainly in 1:24 and later also in 1:18 and 1:43 scales, became popular for combining good detail, opening parts and affordable prices, occupying a space between toys and collectable miniatures. Bburago remained an important symbol of Italian mass-produced model cars until the company’s bankruptcy in 2005; the brand was later acquired by the Hong Kong-based May Cheong Group in 2006, with production moving to Asia. The company’s connection with historic automobiles also lay in the Besana family’s broader practice of studying and, in some cases, acquiring real cars in order to reproduce them faithfully in miniature.

We'll tell the story of this company on the occasion of its anniversary or when it will reach a sufficient number of cars.
