#ArnoltBristolBolide

The Arnolt-Bristol Bolide was the intermediate, competition-oriented version of the Anglo-Italian-American sports car created by Stanley H. “Wacky” Arnolt, combining a Bristol 404-derived chassis and two-litre six-cylinder engine with lightweight bodywork designed by Franco Scaglione and built by Bertone. It differed from the extremely austere Competition model by offering a larger windscreen, a rudimentary folding soft top and slightly more complete road equipment, while remaining lighter and more spartan than the better-finished DeLuxe, which added improved weather protection, bumpers, side screens and Connolly leather upholstery. The range was completed by a very small number of closed Coupés with retractable headlamps. Although suitable for normal road use, the Bolide retained a pronounced racing character and many examples were successfully campaigned in American sports-car events.
