#4CylindersFerraris
While Ferrari is best known for its V12 engines, the four-cylinder models designed by Aurelio Lampredi in the early 1950s played a crucial role in the marque’s racing legacy. Developed initially for Formula 2 regulations, these engines proved lighter, more fuel-efficient, and offered remarkable torque. The 500 F2 secured back-to-back World Championships with Alberto Ascari in 1952 and 1953. The same engine concept was adapted for sports racing cars such as the 500 Mondial, 750 Monza, 857 S, and later the 500 TR and TRC, achieving success at events like the Mille Miglia, Sebring, and the Tourist Trophy. Built in limited numbers and often bodied by Pinin Farina or Scaglietti, these four-cylinder Ferraris are now celebrated for their agility, engineering clarity, and pivotal place in Ferrari’s evolution during a golden era of motorsport.
We'll tell the story of these cars on the occasion of their anniversary or when they will reach a sufficient number of cars.
