Tonconogy Win the 1000 Miglia 2026. Strong Presence of Cars Counted among the Automotive Masterpieces

Brescia, June 13, 2026 – Juan and Margarita Tonconogy have won the 1000 Miglia 2026. At the wheel of their magnificent 1931 Alfa Romeo 6C 1750 GS Spider Zagato, the Argentine crew successfully defended their lead from the attacks of their closest rivals, confirming their exceptional precision on the pressure-switch trials all the way to the finish line in Brescia.
For Juan Tonconogy, this is the fourth personal victory in the Freccia Rossa, following his triumphs in 2013, 2016 and 2018, but the first ever achieved together with his sister Margarita. It is a historic result that brings to an end the remarkable winning streak of Andrea Vesco, the absolute dominator of the previous six consecutive editions, from 2020 to 2025.
Second place went to the Brescia crew Andrea Vesco and Fabio Salvinelli, driving a 1929 Alfa Romeo 6C 1750 SS Spider Zagato, protagonists of a close and compelling challenge. Third overall were Lorenzo and Mario Turelli, consistently solid and precise at the wheel of their 1929 O.M. 665 S MM Superba.
There were no surprises in the Coppa delle Dame, which once again went to Silvia Marini, co-driven by Francesca Ruggeri in a 1947 Cisitalia 202 S MM Spider.
In the Ferrari Tribute 1000 Miglia, victory went to Vittorino Battaglia and Giordano Mozzi in a 2019 Ferrari 488 Spider, while the Gran Turismo Experience was won by Shimitzu Ryotaro and Jari-Matti Latvala.
Starting from Brescia, the convoy of more than 430 crews inaugurated a new route, crossing Val Trompia and Val Gobbia for the first time. A Stamp Check at the Beretta headquarters marked the company’s 500th anniversary. And, after covering almost 2,000 kilometres of spectacular roads, the 99th edition of the 1000 Miglia has thus come to an end.
Significant once again this year was the presence of automobiles counted among the Automotive Masterpieces, representing almost 10% of the cars entered in the race.
One of the most meaningful moments of the 2026 1000 Miglia’s passage through Rome took place on Via Veneto, where Prisca Taruffi paid tribute to the memory of her father, Piero Taruffi, by wearing his original racing helmet and symbolically presenting it to American collector John Houghtaling, owner of the 1955 Ferrari 735 LM, chassis 0546 LM, highlighted by the historical research carried out by Automotive Masterpieces.
The focus now turns to 2027, the year of the Centenary. The race will return to its traditional late-May calendar slot, during the week from May 22 to 29, for an edition ready to offer new surprises while preserving the powerful emotions that have always defined the 1000 Miglia.
